As of today,  the overall number of overdose deaths for the period January 1, 2017 to April 30, 2017 is at 173.  78% of these are from opiates and the majority of these are fentanyl and /or fentanyl analogue related.  During the same period in 2016, we saw 104 overdose deaths here in Franklin County.  This is approximately a 66% increase since last year. If we follow the current trajectory we will have over 500 people die of overdoses this year compared to 353 in 2016.
